Society of Friends Flower Festival 15th – 18th June 2017

2017 is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Society of Friends of Brechin Cathedral.

To mark the occasion the Brechin Floral Art club are staging a Flower Festival in the Cathedral from Thursday 15th – Sunday 18th June 2017.

William Walton composed a musical accompaniment to be played by six instrumentalists over which Edith Sitwell’s poems are recited, this is called Walton’s Facade. It is to be performed in the Cathedral on Sunday 18th June at 3.00p.m.   Entry will be by donation.

After the entertainment there will be a buffet meal in the church hall for Society members and their guests.

The AGM of the Society will be held in the Cathedral Hall on Friday 16th June at 7.15p.m. when the Annual Address will be given by Mr Doug Binnie who was the coordinator of the extensive survey of the Cathedral in 2016 commissioned by the Society.  A bound copy of the survey is to be presented to the congregation at the AGM.

The Annual Church service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr Grahame on Trinity Sunday 11th June 2017 at 10.30p.m.

The guest preacher is to be the Bishop of Brechin the Right Reverend Dr Nigel Peyton who has recently announced that he will retire on 31st July 2017 after a ministry of 41 years.
